How Your Perfume Can Last Longer - Even During Summer
Can we talk about one of the most annoying things about summer? You spray on your favorite perfume before leaving the house, and you catch that beautiful scent every time you move… but an hour later it’s gone.
After years of struggling in the summer, I figured out a few tricks that help my perfume stay and smell longer, so these are the tips I would give you if we were getting ready together on a summer night out!
Don’t rub your wrists
I know we all do this, and it is sort of a habit for most of us. I spray perfume on my wrists, press them together, and move on, but apparently, this little habit is one of the biggest perfume mistakes.
When you rub your wrists together, the friction creates heat and can make the main notes of your fragrance disappear faster. Instead, you should spray your perfume and let it dry naturally, and if you really can’t wait, you can gently press your wrists together - but never rub.

Layer your fragrance
If you want your perfume to last from morning until evening, layering is your best friend. The easiest way to do this is to use the products from the same fragrance family.
Start with a scented body lotion, then apply your eau de parfum, and if you have it, finish with a hair mist. There are plenty of perfumes with their own versions of body lotions and creams, so that can be the easiest and longest-lasting solution for you!
The reason this works is very simple: every layer adds another touch of fragrance, helping the scent stay noticeable for longer.
Moisturized skin is the secret
One of the easiest ways to help perfume stay longer is by applying it to hydrated skin. Perfume loves moisture, and when your skin is dry, fragrance evaporates much faster. But when your skin is soft and moisturized, it gives the perfume something to hold onto.
A little beauty trick: some people apply a tiny amount of petroleum jelly or a natural oil-based balm before perfume. The oily texture helps lock in the fragrance and slows down evaporation.
Apply perfume right after your shower
One of my favorite tricks is spraying perfume when my skin is freshly clean and slightly warm after a shower. Your skin is softer and more hydrated after a shower, which helps the fragrance hold on better. Apply your moisturizer first, wait a minute, and then add your perfume on top.

Try spraying your hairbrush instead of your hair
This is a little trick for anyone who loves that “my hair smells amazing” effect. Instead of spraying perfume directly onto your hair, spray a little onto your hairbrush and gently brush through your hair. It leaves behind a soft, beautiful scent without making your hair feel dry.
