5 Secrets to improve your Style

We have all met or seen these women who always look so stylish and put-together, whether it is some special occasion, or they are simply going out for a coffee with a friend on a Wednesday afternoon.

I'll share five tips that I have learned over the years while talking with some of these women and some of these I apply in my everyday life as well.

Learn to Mix Casual and Classy Pieces

If there is just one thing that you will remember after reading this blog, it should be this one. Once you learn how to mix casual and classy pieces, it will open up so many different combinations for you to create from your own closet, that you won't even believe it is possible. You will never say "I have nothing to wear!" again.

If you get a good tailored coat for example, that would be your classy piece. Underneath it you could wear a simple T-shirt and basic jeans, but if you coordinate the pieces properly, and choose the right jewelry (more on this later), you will look so classy and stylish.

Another good example would be a animal-print pants with a leather jacket. Again, you choose one piece that would be your "statement" one, and build around it with some more casual basics that fit with it.

Outfit 1

Organize your Closet

In order for you to think properly and be able to come up with an outfit without losing hours of your time, you need to know what pieces you have in your closet that you can combine. Organizing my closet is something that I've always struggled with, but I am getting better at it over time.

We are all different and it is important to find what works for you. For example, you could sort your pieces by type, blazers on one end, pants on the other, shirts on the other. Other option could be sorting your clothes by color, so you can easily find the colors that match each other and start building your outfit from there.

It's definitely a step that is often overlooked but can make your outfit creation process much easier and quicker, especially if you are able to clean out your closet between seasons efficiently. You don't want those summer dresses taking up space and confusing you during the winter months.

Outfit 2

Tailor your clothes

Another step that is often overlooked is tailoring your clothes. I understand that we live in a busy world, that most of us don't really have too much free time on our hands, and going to the tailor is just another chore that you don't really want to add to your list. However, it can make a huge difference on how your outfit looks and how you feel about yourself.

Since most of the items we by today are mass-produced, they are made to try and fit the "average person". However, we are all different, have some unique features about ourselves and just because something is your size, it doesn't mean it fits you properly. Tailoring these items to your actual size and making some of these minor changes can really help you improve your style and eventually your confidence a lot.

Outfit 3

Don't be afraid to repeat outfits

I can't highlight this one enough! Social media is such a big part of our lives and we are constantly seeing new outfits, new pieces, new trends, that we believe we have to try new things every day just to stay "in trend". That couldn't be further from the truth.

Yes, "trend is your friend", and you should stay in touch with what's going on and what is trendy, but you should find what works for you and what you feel most comfortable in, and build on that. If you find an outfit that is your "favorite one", don't be afraid to repeat it. When you are shopping for new items, think about that favorite outfit and see how you could improve it, what minor changes you could make to it, and before you realize, you will start building your wardrobe and your style that will actually look great on you and you will feel fantastic.

Outfit 4

Don't forget about the Accessories

I don't know how many times I've created an outfit a few weeks in advance for an important occasion, planned it out, had it prepared, cleaned, ironed, and then when I put everything on, I start thinking about the accessories at the very last second and start having a panic attack.

Always think about the accessories when you are creating the outfit, because they are that "cherry on the top" that can make or break the outfit.

I'm sure you've all seen those videos on social media "Wearing vs Styling" the outfit, and one of the main points during the styling process are the accessories and the proper use of them.
