90s Style Tips I am Always Following
There's something about 90s style that never really goes out of fashion. A few well-chosen pieces and some easy styling tricks are all it takes to bring that laid-back, off-duty vibe into your wardrobe today!
That's why I am sharing some of my favorite style tips from the 90s that I keep in mind whenever I am creating an outfit.
Let one piece do the talking
You don't need a slip dress, shiny heels, and a crazy bag all in the same outfit. Pick one standout piece and let it be the focus, a good outfit doesn't need 10 special pieces to look good. Sticking with one key piece is what usually ends up looking much more effortless.

Don't underestimate the basics
Some of the most iconic 90s outfits were built around really simple pieces - a white tee, straight-leg jeans, a leather jacket, and boots. You don't need loads of trends to make the aesthetic work, and style icons like Carolyn Bessette Kennedy proved it!

A little "undone" is kind of the whole point
90s style was never about looking perfectly polished, and that's where all the charm came from.
Roll up your sleeves, leave your shirt slightly untucked, or wear your flannel open instead of buttoned. It should look like you didn't spend hours putting your outfit together... even if you totally did.

Don't make everything oversized
One thing you'll notice about the best 90s outfits is that they balance proportions really well. If you're wearing baggy jeans, pair them with a fitted baby tee or tank. Throwing an oversized leather jacket over a simple dress works just as well - but do not drown yourself in clothes.

Keep your accessories simple
Tiny hoops, a silver chain, a choker, or a little shoulder bag are enough to complete the outfit and instantly make it look cooler. The 90s were definitely more about understated accessories than piling everything on, so I would always go with a few simple, staple pieces that can work well with almost everything in my closet.

Mix soft and edgy pieces
This is probably one of my favorite 90s styling tricks. Pair a silky slip dress with chunky boots, or throw a leather jacket over something with lace. That contrast is what gives the outfit personality, and I have seen more and more girls doing this during the past few years. It also allows you to always have something to mix and match, and not just go and buy a new outfit for every occasion.
