Fall Trends I Am Definitely Not Wearing

Every season comes with its own list of things we’re supposedly meant to be wearing, and while I love discovering new trends, I’ve also reached a point where I’m much more selective about which ones actually make it into my wardrobe. So, instead of sharing another list of everything I’m buying for fall, I thought I’d do the opposite and talk about the trends I will be skipping this season.

Skinny jeans

I think we can officially let this one rest for a while. No more skinny jeans in the year 2026, please. I prefer much looser, longer-length denim and I believe that is the right call for the fall season. A relaxed pair of jeans has somehow given new life to some of the pieces I already had in my wardrobe, and it looks much better with blazers, ballet flats or simple knit. I love the extra volume and longer proportions, especially when everything else in the outfit is kept relatively
simple.

Chunky Loafers

Loafers are one of those pieces I never really get tired of and they are a staple for fall season.
However, there are some styles of loafers I am leaving behind this season, and those are the super chunky loafers. Instead, I’m reaching for pairs with a slimmer, more streamlined shape and just a little bit of ruching, because they are way more versatile and elegant.

Peep Toe Shoes

I understand the appeal of bringing a little bit of summer into the fall wardrobe, and there are definitely people who can make peep toe shoes look incredibly cool. But personally, the older I get, the less I understand putting your toes out once the weather starts getting cold. Give me a beautiful closed-toe loafer, ballet flat or pointed shoe instead!

The Acne Studios Scarf

I feel like we really need to talk about this one. The Acne Studios scarf has been the scarf for anyone trying to look effortlessly fashionable for what feels like forever. And yes, it’s a classic. Yes, it photographs beautifully. Yes, I completely understand why everyone loves i, but at this point, whenever I see someone wearing the oversized Acne scarf, I immediately know what aesthetic they’re going for. I would rather choose something vintage, something in an unexpected colour, a beautiful plaid or just a giant, comfortable scarf from a random brand.

Leopard Print Everywhere

I don’t think leopard print is going anywhere, and I’m definitely not saying I’m done with it forever. I’ve worn it, I love a good leopard piece and I understand why it became such a huge fashion moment, but I would give it a little break. This fall, I’d rather experiment with other animal prints that feel a bit less expected, like zebra or deer-inspired prints!
