My Favorite Moments From Couture Week

I don't know about you, but every Couture Week I end up saving way too many photos and replaying the shows over and over again. As always, there were so many beautiful moments this season, but these are the ones I haven't been able to get out of my head even a week later!

Shoes at Chanel

Another moment, or well, a man I couldn't stop thinking about, Matthieu Blazy and his couture debut for Chanel. The collection itself was beautiful, but the shoes completely stole my heart.
Instead of classic heels, we had a collection full of slingbacks painted with fairytale-inspired details like tiny pea pods, golden eggs, and beanstalks. It was playful, whimsical, and exactly the kind of fashion detail that makes couture feel magical and right out of this world. When I am looking at a couture collection, I want to see something fun and whimsical that doesn't necessarily sell, but makes us dream!

Schiaparelli… of course

Daniel Roseberry's Schiaparelli collection was one of those shows that just kept getting better the longer you looked at it. From butterfly seashells and delicate hydrangea petal skeletons to corsets made from skin-like silicone, every single piece had incredible craftsmanship and surreal details. It felt like wearable art, and I honestly could have spent hours zooming in on every look, especially the one Zendaya wore just a few hours after the show!

Balenciaga by Pierpaolo

I was also so excited to see Pierpaolo Piccioli back on the couture calendar. His first collection since leaving Valentino felt emotional, romantic, and unmistakably his (although not everyone thinks that is the best thing). You could spot subtle nods to Cristobal Balenciaga, but also see Pierpaolo's point of view. It felt very modern, and it was definitely refreshing to see Balenciaga like this!

Dior wedding dress

One of my absolute favorite moments from couture week had to be Jonathan Anderson’s final look for Dior - a wedding dress. The off-the-shoulder silhouette, the endless train, the hand- pleated chiffon, and those beautiful fern and cactus flower appliqués made it look like it had been quietly growing inside the greenhouse that surrounded the runway. It was romantic, a little mysterious, and completely magical, and that is all I want to see from his Dior! Definitely got inspired for my own wedding dress.

This Ashi Studio dress

I really love Ashi Studio and their work, but this dress with an actual mirror in the back of a sequined bustier was showstopping! It was inspired by Venetian masquerade balls and the surrealism of Salvador Dalí, but what I loved most was how it made everyone watching part of the story.
