5 Destinations For Late Summer Holiday

I’ve always thought late summer is one of the best times to travel, especially if you enjoy slow days at the beach. That is when crowds start to disappear, the sea is still warm, and everything feels just a little slower. If you’re not really ready to say goodbye to summer yet, or you still haven't decided on your vacation destination, these are the places I’d have on my list!

Puglia, Italy

Puglia is one of those places I would go back to every year if I could. September here is beautiful because the water is still warm enough, the beaches are beautiful, and there are no crowds, so you can actually enjoy them. I’d head towards the Gargano coast for hidden coves, sea caves and those impossibly clear Mediterranean waters. Make sure you have enough time to enjoy those long lunches, good wine and plenty of olive oil, because that's the real secret of
this place!

Corsica, France

Corsica is for those who want a little bit of everything. Beautiful beaches, charming old towns, mountains, amazing food and that real Mediterranean feeling. Bonifacio would definitely be on my list, especially for an afternoon of wandering through its streets, before sitting on a terrace for wine and dinner. And yes, I would absolutely make room for plenty of local cheese and charcuterie, because that is something you really do not want to miss when you are in Corsica.

Madeira, Portugal

Madeira is my pick if you want a real change of scenery for the summer. Instead of spending the entire holiday on a beach, you get dramatic cliffs, lush landscapes, ocean views and beautiful hiking trails. I think it’s particularly appealing for late summer because you can mix a little adventure with long, lazy afternoons by the water.

Comporta, Portugal

Comporta is one of those if-you-know-you-know places and my choice for a more chic, understated escape. It is a bit more elevated and has that refined Portuguese aesthetic that somehow makes everything look so simple, yet so chic. It’s the kind of place where you want to take a million pictures when the perfect sunset comes!

Bodrum, Turkey

Bodrum is also one of those a bit more glamorous destinations, but it is so beautiful in late September and early October. I love their architecture, and I feel like wherever you sit, there is a perfect view of the sunset. It has that effortless holiday atmosphere where even getting dressed for dinner feels like part of the experience. It also has some of the coolest hotels ever!
