Best Summer Travel Destinations

Summer in Europe always sounds like a dream, and honestly, it usually is. But between the perfect beaches and the endless crowds, I’ve learned the hard way that not every “hotspot” feels as relaxing as it looks on Instagram.
Because of that, I gathered some of the coolest summer travel destinations that are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the sun, sea, and the waves.

Tropea, Italy

If you are dreaming of summer in the Amalfi Coast but dread the crowds, then Tropea is the perfect spot for you. It sits on these dramatic cliffs above the bluest water you will ever see, and it has very relaxed vibes, perfect for enjoying the sun and letting your mind wander.
You spend your days swimming at Spiaggia della Rotonda, walking through the old town, and stopping for gelato or a quick espresso without any rush. The views from Santa Maria dell’Isola are even better in real life, especially when the sun starts setting, and everything turns golden.

Hydra, Greece

Hydra is a tiny island just a short boat ride from Athens, and the best part is that there are no cars at all, so everything feels calmer the second you arrive. You can get around on foot, by boat or even by donkey, which is definitely one of a kind experience.
The harbor is basically where life happens, with cafés, small shops and boats constantly coming and going, but it never feels chaotic. You do not really go to a “beach day” there in the usual sense, you just find a spot on the rocks, dive straight into that clear blue water, and that becomes your afternoon. It is simple, a bit wild in places, and exactly the kind of place that makes you forget about everything else for a while.

Biarritz, France

Biarritz is one of those places I would recommend when you want a mix of beach, style and that effortless French glamour. You can split your days between Grande Plage, where everything feels fun and alive, and Plage de la Côte des Basques, which is more relaxed and one of the best spots to just sit and watch the surfers as the sun goes down.
What I love most about Biarritz is that its chicness has history behind it. Coco Chanel actually spent time here in the early 20th century and is said to have helped turn the town into one of the first real beach-chic destinations, introducing a more relaxed, elegant way of dressing. You can still feel that influence today in the way Biarritz carries itself!

Kotor, Montenegro

Kotor is one of those places I would tell everyone to visit at least once. It sits tucked between these massive mountains and the Bay of Kotor, making it look like a mix between a fjord and a Mediterranean dream. Taking a boat around the bay feels almost like floating through history, especially when you pass places like Perast or Our Lady of the Rocks.
I loved just getting lost in the Old Town. It is very small, but every corner feels like a surprise, from stone alleys and tiny squares to cats sleeping on church steps. One of the things I would also always recommend is climbing up to the Kotor Fortress, especially early in the morning or at sunset. The hike is a bit brutal, but the view at the top honestly makes you forget how many steps you just climbed.

Alicante, Spain

Alicante is known for its long stretches of golden beaches, warm Mediterranean light and an urban city layout. What makes it especially appealing is how naturally the city flows from one experience to another. One moment you are strolling along the Explanada, and the next you are in the old quarter, surrounded by narrow streets, local markets and tapas spots.
It is also a destination that works well for different moods, whether that means slow beach days in San Juan, short boat trips to nearby islands like Tabarca, or day excursions into the surrounding wine regions and small villages. Alicante has that easy, sunny rhythm that makes it simple to enjoy without needing to overplan anything.
