How I Prepare For fashion Week

Fashion Week may look like a lot of fun from the outside, but trust me, there is a lot happening before you ever take your seat at a show. As an influencer, preparing for Fashion Week is a mix of emails, invitations, outfit planning, schedules, content, and trying to make sure I haven’t forgotten the one thing I’ll desperately need once I arrive.

Here is how I prepare for every Fashion Week and the things I can absolutely not miss!

Securing the invites

I usually start weeks ahead by looking through the Fashion Week schedule and making a list of the shows and brands I need and want to attend. Then comes the less glamorous part: outreach. I contact PR teams early and make sure my media kit is ready with information about my audience, engagement, and previous fashion coverage. I also always try to make my emails personal. If there’s a designer I’ve been following or a collection I particularly loved, I’ll mention it. Fashion Week is about relationships as much as it is about fashion, so I building personal connections really matters.

Planning the outfits

Once my schedule starts coming together, it’s finally time for my favorite part: the outfits. I plan every look I can in advance, including the shoes, bag, and jewelry, and I always try everything on before packing. An outfit can look perfect in your head and then somehow feel completely different once you actually put it on.
One of my favorite tricks is packing by complete outfit rather than throwing everything into my suitcase by category. When your morning starts early, and you have somewhere to be, you definitely don’t want to spend twenty minutes looking for the right earrings.

Mapping out the week

Fashion Week schedules can be slightly chaotic, so I always look at where every show, meeting and appointment is happening. If possible, I try to group things by location and avoid spending half the day sitting in traffic. I also make sure I have all my confirmations, addresses and timings saved somewhere easy to access. It sounds obvious, but when you’re moving between multiple venues in one day, staying organized is a number 1 priority.

Planning the content

As an influencer, Fashion Week is obviously not just about attending the shows, and I also need to think about what I want to share with my audience. I usually have a rough content plan before I arrive - outfit content, runway details, street style and little behind-the-scenes moments.

However, I also try to leave room for spontaneity. Some of my favorite content has happened completely unexpectedly, when I find a beautiful location between shows or spot a moment backstage that wasn’t part of the plan at all.

My biggest rule is simple: prepare as much as possible before you go. The more organized I am, the more I can actually enjoy Fashion Week once it starts. Yes, Fashion Week is work. But honestly? It’s also one of the most exciting parts of what I do.
