Places You Need To Visit On The Amalfi Coast

If there’s one place in Italy that deserves a spot on your travel list, it’s the Amalfi Coast. After spending time there, these are the places I’d recommend adding to your itinerary and organizing your trip around them!

Sorrento

If it's your first visit, I genuinely think Sorrento is the best choice for both accommodation and exploring the are. Technically it's not part of the Amalfi Coast, but it feels close enough while being much easier to navigate, and it has plenty of beautiful hotels you can choose from.
Everything is within walking distance, there are endless restaurants, amazing little wine bars, and some of the best gelato I had in Italy. It's also incredibly well connected, so getting to Positano, Amalfi, Capri, Pompeii or Naples is very simple.

Ravello

If I had to choose the most romantic and picturesque place on the coast, it would be Ravello. Located high above the sea, it's quiet and feels worlds away from the crowds below. Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone have some of the most incredible gardens and viewpoints I've ever seen, and it is perfect for relaxing from the crowds the overflow the coast during summer.

Praiano

One place I wish more people talked about is Praiano. It sits between Positano and Amalfi but somehow feels much calmer. The sunsets here are incredible, the atmosphere is slower, and you don't have thousands of people squeezing through every little street. If you're looking for a more relaxed Amalfi Coast experience without sacrificing the views, this is it.

Atrani

Most people walk straight past Atrani without even realizing they've just got into another town.
This is the smallest municipality in Italy, but that's probably what makes it so charming. Just a few minutes from Amalfi, you'll find piazzas, family-run restaurants and a side of the Amalfi Coast that still feels authentic, like you just wandered through the 1980s.

Furore

If you've seen photos of a dramatic fjord with colorful fishing boats tucked between towering cliffs, you've probably seen Fiordo di Furore. This place looks almost unreal in person, and even if you don't have much time, you should stop by to at least see it.

Path of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei)

Ok, this may not be the best place to visit if you are going to Amalfi in the middle of the summer, but if there comes a day that is not too hot and you want to take a walk, then this is what you need to do. The hike takes you high above the Amalfi Coast, where every few steps open up to another incredible view of the sparkling sea, dramatic cliffs, and tiny villages below. I’m not someone who would call myself a serious hiker, but this is an experience I would recommend to anyone visiting the coast.

Capri

I know it's technically an island rather than part of the coastline itself, but if you are here, you simply can't skip Capri. Take the ferry early, rent a small boat if you can, swim in the most beautiful blue water, and spend a few hours wandering through Capri Town and Anacapri. If you have time, ride the chairlift to Monte Solaro for the unreal views and perfect photos. I personally wouldn't stay overnight since it's expensive and not the easiest base for exploring the rest of the coast, but as a day trip it is an absolute must.
