Winter Escape in Austria: Discovering the Magic of Tropolach

I am not the biggest fan of winter, but I absolutely adore the landscapes this season brings. Honestly, I never feel more refreshed than during these cold months. I love bundling up, taking long walks, and spending time in nature. This winter, we traveled to Austria, and I want to share a place that completely captivated us.

Our destination was Tropolach, located near the Nassfeld ski center. I’m not a skier myself, I’m more of a spa girl, but there’s something magical about being outside in the fresh air, sipping tea on the slopes, and soaking up the winter sun.

We stayed at the Falkensteiner Carintia Hotel, a perfect escape from the crowds. The hotel itself is a haven of relaxation and comfort, offering a peaceful retreat.

I must highlight that we were there at the beginning of December, so the ski season has not fully started yet, the hotel wasn't crowded, but when it starts, that may not be the case.

Nearby, you’ll find Lake Weissensee, where the scenery is breathtaking. You can stroll around the lake for about an hour and a half. At the end of the walk, we stopped at a local restaurant, Die Weissenseerin that doesn’t have a fixed menu, instead, they serve dishes made from the freshest ingredients of the day. Honestly, it was some of the best food I’ve ever had. Their signature noodles are a must-try.
